got my les paul for my birthday last year and have hardly put it down since, its the nicest feel to play and it holds tone really well even with old strings. The humbuckers are great pickups that give a good blues sound but a thrash sound is hard to get well but is do-able. compared to my tele i love this guitar even though the tele caster is a good guitar. a wee tad pricey though

I own a 1986 "Iced Tea" burst Les Paul Standard. I paid $1000 for it in 1996. The tone is very creamy due to the PAF pickups and mahogany body, while the neck is sort of chunky. This is a guitar I do not recommend a novice guitarist purchasing due to the playability. But in the hands of a seasoned guitarist, it can scream, wail, cry, and whisper sweet nothings in your ear. I donot recommend this guitar for those Korn inspired guitarists, but if you play classic rock and/or the blues, this guitar is a must.
