How do you work through a scale fast, using slurring but without breaking the fluidity of the progression? Any good, difficult techniques that can be written down as tab and involve advanced finger work?

PRACTICE PRACTICE MESS AROUND BE CREATIVE WRITE GOOD STUFF DOWN

try playing scales without using your pick. the re-introduce the pick only where it is needed to make the sound full.
