how do i relate scales and chords. if i play in key of g what scale would i use?

There are 7 different scales you can use to begin with in the key of \"G\"..or any key..... the 1 major..G A B C D E F# (G maj chord) the 2 minor..A B C D E F# G (a min chord) the 3 minor..B C D E F# G A (b min chord) the 4 MAJOR..C D E F# G A B (C Maj chord) the 5 MAJOR..D E F# G A B C (D Maj chord) the 6 minor..E F# G A B C D (e min chord the 7 Dim. ..F# G A B C D E (f#dim chord) Good luck and welcome to the key of \"G\"
