i want to learn how to tune the guitar by ear using harmonics or any other methods that can be used without using a tuner.

if you play the B string on the 5th fret and sound both the B string and also the high E string open together the notes should sound the same do the following method on each set of notes and your axe will be in perfect tune G STRING 4TH FRET B STRING OPEN D STRING 5TH FRET G STRING OPEN A STRING 5TH FRET D STRING OPEN E STRING 5TH FRET A STRING OPEN

You can also tune your guitar with a piano or keyboard. Using E,B,G,D,A,E or the method mentioned above that tunes the guitar to itself...but this only really works (sounds good) if you know at least one string is in key.

the method described by steve is correct, but u gotta have sum reference sound for the E note. after that, just follow the procedure. watch out for the beats though.
