Question

when playing an E chord, I find it easier to switch my 2nd and 3rd finger positioning. Should I continue to do this, or should I stick to the recommended way

I would recommend sticking to the harder way (as you see it). Because sometimes when you have to switch chords your finger thats suppose to be there isnt and you'll get confused.

Whichever one is easier to switch to faster, as long as when you read a note you can recognize it the same way.

Do it the way you were originally taught. Eventually, after you are comfortable with this, you will be using those fingers as "anchors," making the switch to other chords much easier. If you change the anchor, you will not get the benefit of it.

i recommend learning the way you find more comfortable, as what is perfect for one person, may be uncomfortable for another due to differences in hand sizes. if you then later on find you need to change it, then do so.

i think u should do it the way u were taught because in the long run when u get better at guitar it will make it easier to play other chords :)

i think you should do it the right way because with your way it takes a lot longer to switch from E major to G major
