Question

Asked by Mike on 2000-09-28
Can you tell me exactly what a barre chord is? Ive been playing for about two years and have never taken a lesson, so I might even be playing barre chords and not realizing it.

Its when your index finger[pointer] holds down or "Barres" all the strings in one fret, for example take an E major, slide whole chord up 3 frets, then bar all strings in the 3rd fret. Now you have a G bar chord. Most rock is based in this type of chord. Hope it helps.
