What is the difference between Scales and Modes.How are modes implemented in playing the Guitar?

a scale is a collection or succesion of 7 notes.a mode is playing a scale with a note other than the root as the root.so if you were to play a c scale (cdefgab),but played it so it was like (abcdefg)it would be the same scale but in a different mode. a is the 6th degree of the scale so that would be aeolian 5=mixolydian 4=lydian 2=dorian
