by Tyler de Witt posted on 1999-10-25
Music theory helps us to understand 'why' we play certain notes.
Theory must be understood so that one can understand what to do with
the notes on the fretboard. If we can understand what it is we're playing,
we can apply things that we've learned to more cases and situations that
just the specific case in which we've learned. Theory is essential for
improvisation and composition. This category will cover topics such
note names, intervals, chords, scales and harmony.
